South Shore Chorale and the Fond du Lac Keyboard Teachers Association formed a partnership together for our recent concert Waltz and Fantasy. On the Thursday prior to the concert guest pianist, Jestin Pieper, gave a lecture and performance of Beethoven's Choral Fantasy to help the attendees prepare for Saturday's concert. On the Sunday following the concert local piano teachers had students attend a clinic and workshop with Jestin. Each student played a song for Jestin with him offering feedback for growth and development. In addition, Jestin performed for the children as well. A special thank you to the Fond du Lac Keyboard Teachers for their willingness to partner with our Chorale!
The Fond du Lac High School Performing Arts Center was filled to capacity to witness a remarkable performace of their concert Waltz and Fantasy by the Chorale, orchestra, soloists. The Chorale opened the concert with Beethoven's Mass in C-Major in the first half of the concert. The second half featured the delightful Liebeslieder Waltzes by Brahms and the triumphant A Choral Fantasy by Beethoven. Featured pianist on the Choral Fantasy was Fond du Lac native and New York pianist Jestin Pieper. Joining the Chorale and orchestra were soprano Leah Rockweit (also a Fond du Lac native), mezzo Jessica Schwefel Timmons, tenor Todd Kaphaem, and bass Nathan Krueger.
For 16 days in June and July appoximately 40 members from South Shore Chorale joined forces with our friends from Dubuque, Mount Horeb, and Platteville for a performance tour to England and Scotland. Their first performance was held at the historic Southwark Cathedral in London. These various organizations combined to form the Midwest Chorale for their second tour with the first tour to New York in 2011.
